by Maylanne Whittall; North American Association for the Diaconate; 1994. 8 page pdf.

A report given to the gathering of NAAD outlining the role of deacons in both the life of the world and in the life of the Church. Whittall uses the setting of Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding feast at Cana to begin her illustration of serving the world and the church, stressing the role of servant as the doer of the task at hand. She talks about the value of listening to the disenfranchised: the child, the widow, the street person, the elderly and the other, whomever that might be.
