80th General Convention
July 8-11, 2022

Only deputies, bishops, some alternate deputies, and essential staff and volunteers will attend.

​C047  Establishing Compensation for Deacons
This resolution was amended slightly by the House of Deputies, and met with discussion in the House of Bishops. The HoD concurred and the resolution has been sent to an Interim Body for further study. Visit the Virtual Binder for details.

  • Design group recommends shortening General Convention to 4 days, limiting attendance.
Recommendations from Design group:
  • Convention dates: July 8-11 (Travel dates July 7 & 12)
  • No exhibit hall
  • All church-affiliated organizations are asked to refrain from holding events and receptions

Fall 2018: Sixteen deacons have been appointed to Interim Bodies of General Convention
The President of the House of Deputies, The Rev. Gay Jennings, has continued to increase the number of deacons appointed to interim bodies. Those appointed are:
  • Executive Council: Lillian Davis-Williams from Western NY, Angela Goodhouse-Mauai from North Dakota, Aaron Perkins from Maine, and Geoff Smith from New Hampshire
  • Serving on EC Committees are Aaron (Governance and Operations) and Angela (Mission within The Episcopal Church)
  • Joint Standing Committee on Nominations: Tracie Middleton
  • Standing Commission on Liturgy and Worship: Stan Baker
  • General Convention Task Forces:
    • Care of Creation and & Environmental Racism: Lewis Powell
    • Church Planting & Congregation Redevelopment: Natalie Finstad (candidate)
    • Clergy Formation and Continuing Education: Robin Hollis
    • Model Sexual Harassment Policies and Safe Church Training: Tim Spannaus
    • Theological Education Networking: Maureen Hagen and Don Compier (presbyter)
    • Theology of Social Justice Advocacy: Guy Leemhuis and Susanne Watson-Epting

78th General Convention - 2015
AED endorsed 5 resolutions, which all passed in both houses:
  • A082 Provide Theological Education for Latino/Hispanic Ministries 
  • A091 Affirm Work for Food Ministries and Food Security 
  • A096 Affirm Relationship-Based Social Justice
  • C020 Ministry to People with Mental Illness and Their Families
  • A011 Recommit to Criminal Justice Reform Study and Advocacy

Taskforce for Reimagining the Episcopal Church (TREC )
TREC's final report, Word to the Church, lays out their recommendations for adoption at General Convention 2015. This letter discusses prophetic voices, catalysts for mission, and nonstipendiary clergy.
