How do you envision contributing to the AED Board? What are your special talents and gifts?
I have a personal commitment with deacons in the Church. I was a permanent deacon for 13 years before my priest ordination. I know the deacon life and vocation more in depth, and this facilitates to understanding the diaconate today. I will contribute to AED to promote the diaconate at the right place in liturgy and ministry. Deacons have a particular place in liturgy, and my observations in many dioceses and parishes show me that a long way is needed to walk.
Deacons in the church will have a great ministry and a lot of opportunities to celebrate and proclaim the mission of the Church. I will be happy to serve.
What is your vision for the future of the Association for Episcopal Deacons?
AED will be the instrument to promote deacons’ collegiality, promotion of deacon’s ministry (pastoral and liturgical) and to promote formation for deacons and community. The association will contribute to deacons’ lives, offering opportunities for developing the vocation and ministry. If AED will be promoting collegiality, ministry and formation, the diaconate in the Episcopal Church will be more strong. In my personal vision and experience, deacons are ready to be in charge of congregations and other diocesan ministries. They will be animators of the people and greater missionaries.
I believe that AED has the instruments to obtain this goal, and I want to contribute.
