Question #1
How do you envision contributing to the AED Board? What are your special talents and gifts? The ministry of our deacons has truly been a blessing to the Diocese of Atlanta. Through their vision, dedication, and hard work, they have paved new paths for us to embody God's love in the world. Ministries such as Path to Shine, Good Samaritan Health & Wellness Center, Church of the Common Ground, Georgia Interfaith Public Policy Center, Kids 4 Peace, and numerous parish-level projects stand as testaments to their impactful contributions. Despite the profound influence of the diaconate, deacons often do not receive the rightful respect and recognition they merit. As a member of the laity, I am committed to leveraging my advocacy skills to raise awareness within the church about the indispensable role of deacons and advocate for their rightful place at decision-making tables. Question #2 What is your vision for the future of the Association for Episcopal Deacons? The Association of Episcopal Deacons has the potential to emerge as a prominent advocate for social justice, community service, and spiritual guidance. To enhance the reach and influence of the AED, I envision the establishment of local chapters or the promotion of local gatherings, the provision of comprehensive online resources for deacons, and the fostering of partnerships with other organizations to amplify its impact. In order to educate the church community and attract new deacons to the ministry, one potential avenue could involve having a presence at each Diocesan Council. Many individuals remain unaware of or do not fully comprehend the role of the diaconate, making Diocesan Councils an ideal platform to engage with a diverse audience. It is my aspiration that the AED will continue to redirect the church towards its core mission. The future trajectory of the AED will ultimately be defined by the shared vision and endeavors of its members. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of collaborating with the AED to translate this collective vision into tangible outcomes. |
