IN MEMORIAM
Picture
The Venerable Ormonde Plater, diocese of Louisiana, died on August 6, 2016, the Feast of the Transfiguration, after a long illness.

Read AED's complete remembrance.
Ormonde's obituary is  here.

A solemn Requiem Mass was held on August 13, 2016 at St. Anna's Episcopal Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. The Rt. Rev. Morris K. Thompson, Jr., Celebrant.  Several deacons traveled to attend this funeral and remember Ormonde.

See the slideshow and video below.
DONATIONS
In lieu of flowers, Ormonde's family has requested that donations be given to his home parish in New Orleans, St. Anna's Episcopal Church.

This is a very worthy cause for deacons and friends of the diaconate to support. St. Anna's has multiple ministries which appeal to any diaconal heart. A primary ministry is Anna's Place, a center which provides a wide variety of helpful educational, health, artistic and music programs for children and youth, in the Treme/7th Ward area of the city.

If you would like to make a donation to St. Anna's Church in memory of Ormonde Plater, you may use this link to do so. Under Additional Information, select "in memory" and add Ormonde's name so that your donation goes toward St. Anna's.

If you want your name included on a letter of remembrance AED will send with the gift check to St. Anna's, you must make your gift by Sept. 15, 2016.  Our effort will close on that date.

AED invites the deacons of TEC to show their appreciation for Ormonde's many gifts to us by collecting a sum that will make a real difference to a ministry that was precious to Ormonde's diaconal heart.  In the first hour we collected $500.
