FAQs

Why is AED doing this?
Email marketing rules are stringent and designed to protect you from unwanted emails. Those rules stipulate that organizations are prohibited from sending unsolicited emails. Distribution lists must be permission-based. In addition, anti-spam rules dictate that opt-in cannot be the default. Individuals must check a box in order to receive email marketing.

I’m an AED member, why do I still have to opt-in?
We're grateful for your membership and understand that this may be frustrating. While you might have told us to send Diakoneo by email, we also need to know if you'd like other emails, or not. In the past, if you unsubscribed from one email, that prohibited us from sending any others, including things you asked for. The opt-in form will allow you to select exactly what you want. Remember to make sure your membership is current and paid.

I don't want to receive any emails from AED. Will the form allow me to specify that option?
Yes, you can select specific emails, or no emails. Please remember that if you select "No AED emails", we will not be able to send anything, including materials you may need or want. You can always return to the form and change your selection.

AED is taking this step to update our records, for members and non-members, to ensure we’re in compliance.

We're glad you visited!
AED is a membership association of persons and dioceses within The Episcopal Church whose mission is to increase participation and involvement of all baptized persons in Christ's diaconal ministry, especially by promoting and supporting the diaconate.
