How do you envision contributing to the AED Board? What are your special talents and gifts?
My specialty is in development and would be happy to help with board development and training. I am also well versed in other roles as a nonprofit manager and happy to help where needed. I do fit into the Young Deacons category and help bring diversity. I would like to as a board member work to strengthen our role with diocese and the national church. I would help contribute to the strategic plan and vision and assist in ways to help grow our order and strengthen our existing community.
What is your vision for the future of the Association for Episcopal Deacons?
I would like to see AED work more on diocesan and national partnerships in helping our church understand the diaconate. There still are a lot of people in our pews who do not understand the diaconate and how it differs from the priesthood. As an organization we should be reaching out more across each diocese to help build and recruit, especially among younger generations. I also believe existing deacons need resources and support, so their ministry thrives. One of the greatest gifts AED has is the triennial and it has been increasing in enrollment and AED has worked hard to make this event affordable. I would love to work to make this event even more affordable. I also envision AED having a full-time executive director who can keep building on advocacy for the organization.
