How do you envision contributing to the AED Board? What are your special talents and gifts? The feedback I have received from church and nonprofit leaders as to my contributions to current and previous boards includes being an empathetic listener, a joyful servant leader, faithful, calm, and organized, and providing relevant, hopeful, and thoughtful input and service. I would want to bring many of these gifts to AED as a follower of Christ and someone being shaped by nearly eight years of ordained diaconal ministry as well as service in our Montana School for Deacons and Community of Deacons, long-time church school/family worship leadership, and being knee-deep in family and community. Question #2 What is your vision for the future of the Association for Episcopal Deacons? I see AED moving with the Spirit for deacons and those in formation, stirring its leaders and members to: pray the Examination for a Deacon regularly; document the diaconal history and truth of deacons; listen to the hopes and needs of deacons and those in formation; build relationships with deacons and partners so that our table is full for bringing awareness/understanding/voice to the prioritized hopes and needs; seek right action/policy change where needed; share news/resources with the larger community of deacons and bishops; and celebrate the ordinations, ministries, and movement of deacons. |
