How do you envision contributing to the AED Board? What are your special talents and gifts? My contribution would consist of faithfulness and attention to the work of the AED, with a focus on participation and mindfulness. I would consider a position on the AED Board an extension of my diaconal ministry. My secular career in the human resource field, including 18 years as Director of Human Resources for an investment firm, has given me the administrative skills to draw upon, as well as a working knowledge of employment and organizational issues. I am also a trained life/career coach and have studied and taught listening skills for the Diocese of NY, utilizing the Listening Hearts for discernment model. Question #2 What is your vision for the future of the Association for Episcopal Deacons? The future of the AED is heavily reliant on communication and education. I would like to see AED even more visible and recognizable to the wider church. I would love to see the day when even priests and laity might think "let's check with AED, perhaps they can help us". I believe there is so much support already available through AED, however, so many people (even deacons) don't know or remember that it exists. I'd like there to be enhanced visibility so that we can be more of a household brand. I would like to explore a "self-care" component for AED. Aspects of this may already be available, however, this can be improved. I would love a resource for deacon retreats, and other soul-feeding activities and programs. |
